Water Quality

The health of fish in any aquarium is directly the result of the aquarium's water quality. Biological or introduced toxins can create an aquatic environment in which pathogenic bacteria, fungus, or parasites are allowed to flourish.

Fish maintain an osmotic balance with their environment. Unlike terrestrial animals, they do not have the luxury of being isolated from their wastes.
