Canadian Kennel Club (CKC)

The Canadian Kennel Club CKC)was formed because of legislation under the Animal Pedigree Act which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Agriculture Canada.

As mandated by the Pedigree Act, the CKC is responsible for registering all pure bred dogs in Canada. It's registry consists of over 180 breeds of dogs.

As a non profit organization, the CKC has over 25,000 individual members and over 700 club breeds across Canada.The CKC is also responsible for sanctioning dog shows, rules administration and is an advocacy on dog with respect to issues concerning health and welfare and ownership.

In addition the CKC governs the Dogs in Canada Magazine, a very popular monthly magazine and for the award winning Dogs Annual Magazine.
