Throughout the world domestic cats are traditionally given a name by their owners. Over time a cat will begin to respond when its name is called by its owners, especially near its feeding time.
Cat names vary from names that could be used by humans, to names thought up of by their owners relating to the cat's features - for example: "Spot".
