Argentina is a country in South America. It used to be territory of Spain, but became independent in 1816. There have been many times when there has been fighting in Argentina between people with different political opinions and fighting between soldiers and ordinary people. After World War II the government of Argentina had a lot of power over the people, but in 1976 soldiers took over the country. In 1983 Argentina started to return to a democracy, where people have the right to choose a government.
