Democratic Republic of the Congo

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is a country in Africa which used to be called Zaire. Since 1997 there has been a lot of fighting going on between cultures. Many countries around Congo have also come and fought. A cease-fire agreement for an end to the fighting was signed on the 10th of July 1999 but people have continued to fight.

Independent since: On 30 June 1960 it became independent from the country.
Currency: The Congolese franc is the currency of the country.
