Comoros is a country in Africa. People have tried to stage a coup and takeover Comoros for themselves since the country became independent from France in 1975. Two islands that were part of Comoros decided to become independent in 1997. In 1999 the chief of the military, a person called Colonel Azali, took over the country and helped the people decide a president. The people voted for a president in the election in 2002.
