Benin

Benin is a country in Africa that used to be Dahomey before 1975. It became independent from France in 1960. Between 1974 and 1989 the country was a socialist state, meaning that everything was owned by the government and the government controlled the country's economy. Grown-ups living in the country have been able to vote for a leader since 1991.
