Angola is a country in Africa. There has been lots of fighting in Angola since it became independent of Portugal in 1975. Some people have tried to stop the fighting and make it peaceful, but people continue to fight. In 1994 an organization that wanted total independence of Angola made a peace deal with the government and a new government was created in 1997, but people were fighting again in 1998. The number of people killed in the fighting since 1975 is about 1.5 million, which is pretty big.
