Acids and Alkali

An acid is a chemical substance that has hydrogen in it and that neutralizes alkalis. Acids are the opposite of bases and have a pH level that is less than 7.

An alkali is a substance that can neutralize an acid. If you put an acid and an alkali together, it makes a salt.

An atom is a tiny chemical element. Everything in the universe is made up of lots and lots of atoms.
