When you minus a number from another number, you take it away from the other number. It is the opposite to plus. Plus is also known as addition and minus is also known as subtraction.
0 - 0 = 0 - As can be seen here, when you take away 0 from 0 you will end up with 0.
5 - 4 = 1
20 - 8 = 12
Math questions can also be in word form. An example is shown below:
Five apples minus four apples will leave you with only one apple.
In numbers this is the same as saying: 5 - 4 = 1.

When you plus or add a number to another number you put the two numbers together to create a new number.

Subtraction questions can be asked in word form such as in this example:
If you have two apples and you put another three apples beside them, you get five apples.
This is the worded question in number form: 2 + 3 = 5.
