Years

A year is the time it takes for the earth to go right around the sun. Years are counted from the birth of Jesus Christ.

A leap year is a year that has 366 days, because it has an extra day on the 29th of February. This is because it actually takes around 364.25 days for the earth to travel around the sun, so every four years we have to catch up with an extra day.

If the last digits of a year can be divided by 4 to get a whole number, or if both the digits are 0, then it is a leap year.

Days

A day is a period of twenty four hours. Days are made up of a dark time called night time and a light time called day time.

A day is the time it takes for the earth to spin once on its axis.
There are seven days in a week, about thirty days in a month and three hundred and sixty five days in a year.
