Primatology

Some biological anthropologists study hominids. Hominids are humans, great apes, and ape-like ancestors of humans. Great apes are chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, and orangutans. These mammals are genetically similar to humans. Humans and apes are over 99% the same. Scientists believe that studying apes will give them clues to how the first humans may have behaved.
