Gardens

A garden is an area of land at your home, another person's home or at a park where plants are grown, especially fruit, vegetables or flowers. To grow a plant, you usually need to water it and place it in the sun where it can grow well.

Tools

Lots of useful tools are used in the garden.

A ladder is a tool you use to climb up and down from a high place. You should only use a ladder if your mum or dad lets you and if someone is holding the ladder when you climb it.

Back Yards

Your backyard is a place at the back of your home that is open.

It often has an area of grass called a lawn. Lawns need regular mowing with a lawn mower.

Leaves

Leaves are the flat green things on trees where a plant makes its food during the day. Some trees lose their leaves during the season of autumn or fall.

In many gardens leaves are pulled into piles using a rake.
