Hearing and Your Ear

Your ear is something you hear with.

Your eardrum is a membrane in your ear. It moves as sound waves in the air come near it.

An earring is a piece of jewellery that can be put on your ear. It is decorative, meaning that it is there to look good. Some earrings can only be worn if someone has pierced their ear.

Earphones are something you use to listen to music that is on a CD, on a cassette tape or is on the radio. You put earphones in your ears so you can listen to music.

Your voice is what you use to talk and to sing. You move your mouth when you speak so certain sounds are made.
