Cable Television

Cable television is when television shows are sent as electrical signals through an underground cable which travels from the television channel to your television.

Satellite Television

Satellite television is when television shows are sent as electrical signals from the television channel to your home by bouncing the electrical signals against satellites out in space. The first communication satellite to be put in orbit around the Earth was in 1952.

Introduction

Televisions are boxes that use electricity to show pictures and provide sounds so we can watch and listen to television shows.

Television shows are recorded by video cameras that turn pictures and sounds into electrical signals. A transmitter at a television channel sends these electrical signals to the television aerial on the top of your house. These electrical signals then travel through a cord or cable to your television which turns them back into pictures and sounds.
