Introduction

All the parts of the computer that you can see and touch are called hardware, though many parts of the computer you will need to ask a grown-up about before touching because they might be dangerous. If you get a grown-up’s help to check inside a computer, you will see all sorts of different bits that make the computer run!

Input Hardware

Your computer collects information the keyboard and mouse. It might also collect information from other things that are plugged into the computer, like microphones. These things are called input hardware devices because they can put information into the computer.

Output Hardware

There are many ways your computer gives you information. Firstly, it gives you information on the screen, or display. It can also give you information using a speaker, which could be used for music or speaking. These things are called output hardware devices because they put information out of the computer.
