定義

自然現象、社会現象及び人間自身に対する実証可能な知識の体系。観察、実験等の体験を整理したものである。純粋に真理の探究を目的とする純粋科学（自然科学、社会科学、人文科学）と、実社会への還元を重視する応用科学（実学；工学、農学、医学等）に分かれるが、その境界は必ずしも明確でない。狭義には、自然科学のみを指す場合もある。また、科学に、応用科学を含めない場合もある。
