Auf der Insel St. Kitts befinden sich drei Vulkangruppen, die durch tiefe Täler und Schluchten getrennt sind. Die Insel Nevis ist etwa 3 km von der Insel St. Kitts entfernt. Beide Inseln sind vulkanischen Ursprungs.
