Domestic services are those household maintenance tasks undertaken by a business of some form that might otherwise be done by members of the household, especially homemakers.
The popularity of domestic services is primarily as a result of the trend in society of both partners in a relationship being employed and the tasks of the homemaker in a family or household being done by someone else. However, this contrasts with the increasing popularity of the Do-It-Yourself notion.
The term ‘domestic’ refers to those things that are related to households, homes and families, especially those in urban areas.
