Overview

The ICF attempts to describe how people live with their health condition. It is a classification of health and health related domains including body functions and structures, activities and participation, as well as environmental factors. The domains are classified from a body, individual and societal perspectives. This is important since an individual's functioning and disability occurs in the context of all three domains.

ICF has enormous potential for the understanding and measurement of health care and interventional outcomes as well as the outcomes of disease progression. It is useful at across the whole spectrum of health care based on individuals up to whole populations.
