Ears, Nose, Throat Disorders

The ears, nose, mouth, and throat are sensory organs that function in hearing, smelling, and taste. They are also perform other important functions, such as balance, speaking, swallowing, and breathing. Since these organs are interconnected by canals, infections in one area can spread to the others. This problem is particularly apparent in children who may get middle ear infections, following seemingly mild nasal congestion or sore throats.

The ears, nose, and throat are the specialty areas of the otolaryngologists. They treat disorders ranging from hearing loss to dizziness. Some also perform surgery of cancers in the head and neck.
