Introduction

Baldur's Gate is a game for the PC that uses many AD&D rules to enhance its gameplay. Features of the AD&D system such as Armor Classes and the THAC0 (To Hit Armor Class 0) have been incorporated to give this game a D&D feel. There are a wide variety characters to assist the main character in the game and many monsters to try and vanquish.

The story takes place near the Sea of Swords on the Sword Coast in a town named Candlekeep. The main character starts out completing several easy tasks such as killing rats and finding a drunk soldier's sword. The game gets interesting when the main character leaves Candlekeep with his foster father Gorion. The two meet up with a dark figure and his assailants and a battle begins. Gorion kills them all except all but the dark figure. The main character runs as the dark figure kills Gorion. Chapter One starts, and the real game commences.
