Black Stone - Magic and Steel was originally released as an Xbox launch title in Japan, under the name of Ex-Chaser. The game is part of a series that began with the PlayStation game Spectral Force. However, Black Stone is the first game in the series that was released outside of Japan.
Up to four players can choose between the character classes of pirate, thief, warlock, warrior, and archer. In a similar way to the Gauntlet games, the players explore multiple levels attacking monsters and destroying monster generators.
