Hardware Requirements

As a minimum it is recommended that systems run the Windows 98/2000/ME/XP operating systems with a 1 GHz processor (2GHz + preferred) and at least 512 MB (1 GB preferred) of RAM The video card must be DirectX 9 compatible with pixel shader and vertex shader compatible hardware with 64 MB of texture memory (more memory the better). The sound card should have DirectSound compatible audio hardware.
The GeForce 4 MX cards are not supported because they do not have pixel and vertex shaders.
More graphic board memory enables higher-quality textures without swapping increasing performance.

On install the producty examines the hardware configuration and balances visual quality against performance.

EQII is playable on a 56K dialup modem.

Introduction

Players start the game in a tutorial on the Island of Refuge. It is here that the basics of the game can be learned.
Eventually around level 6 players move to one of two cities: Qeynos or Freeport. These cities survive after the cataclysms follwoing teh EverQuest (I) series. However Qeynos and Freeport have changed are are now large with about 17 zones and very detailed graphics and interactive nonplayer characters.

Qeynos and Freeport are the players homes as well as places of commerce and traffic. They are safe havens for fininshing the days playing as well as shopping and finding new quests.

The zones of Qeynos and Freeport have neighborhoods with defined racies predominating.
Each have banks, markets and plenty of accomodation.
The main distinction between the two cities are that one is good and the other evil. Qeynos is ruled over by Antonia Bayle while Freeport is controlled by Overlord Lucan D'Lere.
Race determines which city will initially accept you following a citizen quest. The various races of frogloks, halflings, dwarves, high elves, and wood elves start in Qeynos while iksars, trolls, ogres, ratonga, and dark elves start in Freeport.

Kerra, barbarians, Erudites, gnomes, half elves, and humans can choose either one of the cities.
