Playstation 2 first arrived on the shelves of Japanese retailers on March 4, 2000, and later appeared in shops throughout North America on the 26th of October the same year, following an official announcement from Sony Corporation. It met the huge demands of the summer holidays, and soon set new standards for home entertainment. Within just months over a million console units had been purchased throughout America, and many more were distributed around the world. Since the first appearance of Playstation 2, the price has dropped dramatically, and they continue to decline in value and become more common items in houses worldwide.

The 128-bit CPU has 32 MB of memory and processes 3.2 GB per second.
