Cheats and codes are found in various different formats. For some consoles, there are a number of cheating devices (such as the Action Replay), which can be used with certain games and codes to produce effects that they game designers didn't intend to include. Some cheats can be entered into a game without a seperate cheating device, to produce effects that the game designers intended to include.
Tips and hints give the player advice on certain parts of a game, and sometimes inform the player of the locations of hidden items. Tips and hints don't require passwords, codes, or cheating devices.
