This game is identical to the Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, and Windows versions, with the exceptions of graphical improvements, code changes, and different developers in the other versions. The PlayStation version was the first to be published and all other versions are based on this version.
Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro is a direct sequel of this game, and uses the same game engine.

Peter Parker, photographer for the Daily Bugle newspaper by day and friendly neighborhood wall-crawler by night, is covering a lecture ad the Science Expo given by Dr. Otto Octavius, the reformed criminal better known as Doctor Octopus. After Dr. Octavius finished the lecture, someone pretending to be Spider-Man appeared and stole Dr. Octavius’ new invention. Now everyone in New York City believes Spider-Man to be a thief and is out to capture him, including the police and Eddie Brock, who is better known as Spider-Man’s enemy, Venom. Now Parker has to clear his name while evading his pursuers, rescuing his kidnaped wife, and capturing criminals responsible for a rash of technology heists.
