Half a decade after the release of the original Metroid game, the series continues as the sequel made its debut in 1991 onto Nintendo's fairly new portable gaming platform known as the "Gameboy," which was released in 1989. Similar to the previous Metroid game, the general style of gameplay has remained the same except it now offers a new world to explore along with the addition of some new items that provide players new techniques that aid in providing more depth to the gameplay.
