With the Metroid series conspicuously absent during the Nintendo 64 era, the Metroid saga was once again revived with the release of Metroid Fusion for the Gameboy Advance in 2002. This installment of the series serves as a continuation of the story following the events of Super Metroid. While the gameplay once again retains many of the features found in previous installments, Metroid Fusion introduces new components to the series that aid in establishing more action elements to the gameplay.
