General Information

Block dominoes is the most basic game of dominoes, although there are several more difficult variations. The standard game is suitable for any age, including young children, so is therefore a family game.

  • If being played by two players, seven tiles are drawn each. If three or four players are involved, five tiles are drawn each.
  • The player with the highest double starts by placing the double in the centre of the table. A double is a tile with the same number of dots at each end.
  • Each player gets a turn in a chosen order. A turn involves a player placing a tile on the table perpindicular to another tile. The end touching the other tile must have a matching number of dots to the end it is touching.
  • In the basic game, players must have a matching tile in those they have drawn, or they must miss a turn.
  • When a player has played all their tiles they must call out "Domino!" and the game must end. Spots are counted on the dominoes of each player to work out the number of points the winner gets.
