Robosapien

Robosapien is the new toy robot invented by former NASA scientist Mark Tilden. Standing 14 inches high, it has over 67 commands it can execute and touch sensors in it's hands and feet. The robot is operated by a battery operated remote control. It can also be controlled by third party infrared transceivers connected to a PC (Personal Computer). It is manufactured by Wowwee International and estimated sales figures as of January 2005 were 1.5 million units.

Command Set

This is a listing of the commands that the Robosapien can execute. The remote control does have the ability to record and playback a limited set of macros. A macro is a sequence of commands strung together, that can be executed by a button press on the remote control. Commands and macros can also be executed in response to one of the hand or foot sensors being touched.

Notes

The Robosapien was designed from the start to be modifiable, or hackable, by the amateur hobbyist or roboticist. This is a departure from the proprietary black box toy implementations which are intended to prevent the owner from modifying the unit. In addition, with the purchase of a third party infrared transceiver, the robot can be made to do complex series of movements when controlled by a PC (personal computer) equipped with the proper software.
