Public Applications (Newapps)

Public applications appear on the meta dashboard with the number of apps in the queue. When reviewing a newapp, the applicant's IP will appear with a link to the IP log. Also, links to start a forum thread and the requested category will also appear.
Because applicants are required to provide a reason for joining, metas will be able to see the reason why they would like to join, and can see a sample of their usage of grammar and spelling. Metas can add request notes to the request, and view other meta's comments.
Once a decision is reached, the meta can accept or deny the newapp. An e-mail will be sent to the supplied e-mail address, with the rejection or acceptance notice. Comments supplied in the comment box will be appended to these notices as well.

Internal Applications (Newperms)

Existing editors can internally apply for a new category to edit via the request script. These produce a queue of editor applications seperate from the public applications queue, and can be reviewed by catmods if they have permission there, and metas. These are similar in function to the Public Applications, and are procesed in the same way.
