CatMv

The Catmv serves as a way to rearrange the ontology of subcategories. This tool, accessible to cateditalls and higher, allows editors to move and rename categories from one part of the Encyclopedia to another. This is useful if several categories are spread out over the directory that should be beneath each other. Editor privileges are moved along with subcategories that appear beneath the category in question.

To perform a catmv, proper privileges are required. For editalls, this won't be a problem. Find the category that is to be moved, in whole or part, and copy its base. Then, select the top level cat from the drop-down menu, and delete it from the category path. The submit button executes the catmv. If all was well with your inputs, the screen should refresh, and inform you that the categories have been moved.

The process for renaming categories is exactly like moving them. Instead of typing in a different place for the category to be moved to, the category is just being named differently, along with all the subcategories. It is possible to move and rename categories at the same time.

Newcat - Editall Version

The editall 'version' of the newcat.cgi is used in the same way as the normal version dedicated to category editors, with one exception. The editall editors can grant new categories to other editors by writing the name of the editor and the reason for the grant. For CatEditalls, this additional feature is available only in the areas where the CatEditall privilege is available. If there isn't an editor that must be appointed, the fields can be left blank.

When called from the dashboard, the tool also displays a drop down menu from which the correct top-level category must be selected.

Translate Strings Tool

This tool allows cateditall+ editors (and others) who speak a second language to translate different strings on the editing interface into another language.

The translation of the editing interface allows contributions made from editors that don't understand English. This tool allows editall+ editors to modify groups of words that appear on the editing pages.

Before translation can begin for a given language, a root editor must create the language.

Delcat.cgi – Editall Version

The editall version of delcat.cgi is linked from the dashboard of the CatEditalls+ and it functions in the same way as the version dedicated to category editors, with one exception: there is a drop-down menu available, from which the correct top-level category must be selected.

What are editall tools?

These are specialized tools for cateditalls and editalls. Higher level editors can also access these. See the editall guidelines.
