The Catmv serves as a way to rearrange the ontology of subcategories. This tool, accessible to cateditalls and higher, allows editors to move and rename categories from one part of the Encyclopedia to another. This is useful if several categories are spread out over the directory that should be beneath each other. Editor privileges are moved along with subcategories that appear beneath the category in question.
To perform a catmv, proper privileges are required. For editalls, this won't be a problem. Find the category that is to be moved, in whole or part, and copy its base. Then, select the top level cat from the drop-down menu, and delete it from the category path. The submit button executes the catmv. If all was well with your inputs, the screen should refresh, and inform you that the categories have been moved.
The process for renaming categories is exactly like moving them. Instead of typing in a different place for the category to be moved to, the category is just being named differently, along with all the subcategories. It is possible to move and rename categories at the same time.
