Creating and Deleting Categories

New categories allow the editors of the project to expand it, and create more opportunities for users interested in becoming editors. The New Category link on the edit page will create the named subcategory under the one where the link was clicked. New categories contain no data, even if a category with the same name was deleted beforehand.

Deleting categories is not possible until all of the subcategories have been deleted. Sections, @links, based on, charters, absolutely everything for the category is deleted when the category is deleted. Re-creating the category will not bring back the lost data. When the 'Delete category' link is clicked, a confirmation page will load. Once the delete button is pressed, the category will be deleted.

Category Charters

Category Charters are useful for telling other editors what the category is for. At this point in time, Charters are only viewable by other editors.

Category Charters are a way an editor can find out exactly what sort of content should go into the category, and can also outline the basic 'ground rules' of the category. Charters can contain any necessary information: how to list certain things, where to put subcats, etc. Any editor can view them.

Charters are added when the category is created, they do not, however, contain any data. To edit a charter, click the link on the charter page, and input all the necessary information into the text field. HTML can be added to charters.
