Leadership is important in a business. A business rarely does well unless it has effective leaders. There are many different types of leadership, each with their own strengths and weaknesses.
It is important for a business to consider what type of person they want to lead their workers - a good leader will most likely result in more motivated workers.
Autocratic Leadership - An autocratic leader will tell employees what to do without consulting them for their opinions. This may result in a less motivated workforce.
Democratic Persuasive Leadership - A democratic persuasive leader will make their own decisions as to what the workforce should do, but will attempt to 'persuade' the workers to accept the decision through discussion and reasoning.
Democratic Consultative Leadership - A democratic consultative leader would ask for the opinions of the workforce before coming to a final decision. This sort of leadership normally motivates the workers as they are made to feel more important in the business.
Laissez-Faire Leadership - A laissez-faire leader would allow the workforce to make their own decisions on how to complete a task or reach a target. People who use this style of leadership only occasionally make decisions for others.
