The National Association of Theatre Owners is a trade organization of movie theatre owners based in the United States of America. Members include both major chains of movie theaters and smaller independent theaters. Over 26,000 screens are operated by the members, who include both movies theaters in the United States and cinemas in other countries.
In 1980 and 1982 the National Association of Theatre Owners operated the American Movie Awards, but these did not perform well against other movie awards. By contrast, the ShoWest Convention, held by the Association in almost every March since 1976, has been far more successful and it is now the largest movie convention in the world.
