On May 20, 2005 I found out that I am indeed pregnant.

Five days ago I found out I was pregnant. In that time, I've attempted to apply for state healthcare (since I have not been at my job long enough to be eligible for health insurance), and have told my parents and my fiance's parents. Both my parents and his took the news very well. I had expected many questions, particularly about finances, considering that only a month before we had finally found an apartment and things were starting to look good.

I'm doing well, I suppose. I have yet to see a doctor, though, due to my lack of insurance. Did you know that it costs $3700 to have a baby in the state of Massachusetts without healthcare? And that's only if there's no problems during the pregnancy or afterwards with the baby. Even the smallest complication would mean seeing a specialist, and that would drive up the cost much higher.

I went to my first ultrasound yesterday. Everything went well. Surprisingly, however, I'm already at 8 weeks, which is a bit further along than I had estimated. No worries, however.

Still waiting on approval from MassHealth. At least any out-of-pocket expenses incurred thus far will be reimbursed. I fully expected to have to pay for the ultrasound, but they are going to bill MassHealth as soon as I receive word of their decision. If I am accepted, that is. Otherwise, I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to pay for things.

Other than that, I've been alright. Had a few bouts of sickness here and there. "Morning sickness" is such a misnomer since I certainly don't get it in the morning. My coworkers were teasing me that more sickness means you're carrying twins, but yesterday definitely quashed that theory. I'm not.
