The Gaag is a river in Eastern Westland a.k.a. Midden-Delfland (in the neighbourhood of Delft where William of Orange has been killed (that's the founder of the Netherlands or something his descendants are now royal and are in the royal house, but enough about that...). The Gaag is just a river. And some people had (and have) their homes at this river and when people have to have a surname they called it after the river: Van der Gaag, Overgaag, and so further. So my ancestors named themselves Overgaag. Cause they lived at the other side (over) the Gaag. :P
I don't really know where the river is called after, if someone could tell me. Thanks.
