Synopsis

Live from New York every evening, this newscast uses the resources of CBS News, including correspondents across the United States and the world. It covers a variety of headline stories, as well as news on health, finance and the economy, including regular live crosses to the White House with political reporter John Roberts.

Dan Rather, an experienced CBS current affairs reporter, read the newscast until 2005. Rather replaced Walter Cronkite in 1981.
