The Bernie Mac Show

Stand-up comedian Bernie Mac stars as himself in the Emmy-nominated tale of a father stuck with his sister's three children. With his sister in rehab for drug abuse, Bernie finds his life is never the same again.

The wealthy LA lifestyle he and his wife Wanda once shared is shattered by the arrival of teenage Vanessa, little Bryanna and asthmatic Jordan, who prove nothing but trouble. Worse still, the trouble only gets worse.

The fictional Bernie often threatens to "bust their heads 'til the white meat shows" and even go as far as to "kill one of them kids". Despite some strict discipline and a rather unique parenting style that is central to the program's humor, Bernie was judged TV Guide's Number 47 Greatest TV Dad of All Time.

The show also varies between first and third person perspective, with Bernie at some points during the show speaking directly to the audience. Despite both the fictional and real character being comedians, the show is apparently based on Mac's stand-up comedy and not on his own life.
