Description

South Pacific is set on an island during World War II and tells the tale of two love stories threatened by dangers of war. Nellie, an Arkansas nurse, falls in love with a French planter named Emile. However, Nellie is unable to overcome her prejudice and refuses Emile's marriage proposal. At the same time, Lt. Joe Cable denies himself the fulfillment of a future with a Tonkinese girl with whom he's fallen in love out of the same prejudices of Nellie. When Emile and Joe are called on to be a part of a dangerous mission, Nellie realizes life is too short not to be happy and confronts her prejudices.
