Description

Oklahoma! was the first collaboration between Oscar Hammerstein II and Richard Rodgers, a team who would later create many famous musicals. The musical is based on Green Grow the Lilacs, a stage play by Lynn Riggs. The plot revolves around who will take Laurey Williams to the box social--Jud Fry or Curly McLain. The original Broadway production ran for 2,212 performances. Oklahoam! was adapted into a movie musical in 1955.
