Description

My Fair Lady played for 2,717 performances at the Mark Hellinger Theatre on Broadway and 2,281 performances at the Drury Lane Theatre in London. It was the longest running musical of its time.

The musical is about Professor Henry Higgins, who takes a bet from Colonel Pickering that he can transform unrefined, dirty Cockney girl Eliza Doolittle into a lady and make her a member of high society. After her transformation, young aristocrat Freddy Eynsford-Hill falls in love with her. When Higgins takes all the credit for the transformation and forgets to acknowledge the efforts of Eliza, she leaves him for Freddy. Higgins realizes very quickly, however, that he's grown accustomed to her and cannot live without her.
