Tap

Tap, a style of American dance, is distinguished by percussive footwork that marks out precise rhythmic patterns on the floor. The basic roots of tap dancing are in clogging and African dance. The style was expanded in the 1930s and 1940s, when famous dancers such as Fred Astaire, Paul Draper, Ray Bolger, and Gene Kelly brought a new flare to tap.
