Overview

Grindcore, although often categorized with Death Metal, began as a very different, very extreme musical form. At it's most basic, grindcore consists of blast beats and brutal screaming, along with the standard heavy metal setup of distorted guitars, bass, and drums. Grindcore was started off as being a bastard child of hardcore punk. It was known as "thrash" and was dubbed grindcore later on by the original members of Napalm Death. Grind is basicly set up in to parts: There's the "grind" (which is the fast riffing with blast beats underneath) and the "crust"(the parts that resemble hardcore punk riffs). This is the traditonal way of playing grind which has been modified thought it's almost twenty year history. The subject matter that a grind band would touch on can be from gore to absolute silliness.
