Barry McGuire

Barry began his career in the folk music world, first performing with Barry Kane and then, with Kane, becoming members of the New Christy Minstrels in 1962. McGuire wrote the "Christys" first big hit, "Green, Green" but it was just three years later that McGuire would become a household name, taking the P.F. Sloan social anthem, "Eve Of Destruction" to the top of the charts worldwide.

McGuire's next step of fame was as the lead in the rock opera Hair. But in 1971, Barry would embrace Christianity and is considered a pioneer in the creation of the Jesus Music genre, which combined the Gospel message with rock music rhythms. Today, he is semi-retired, still doing an occasional concert date.
