Grand Funk Railroad started as a hard rock garage band of the late 1960s. Unknown until they played the Atlanta music festival July 4th, 1969, they were immediately signed by Capitol Records and soon became a household word among hard rock fans.
To date, "The American Band" has sold over 25 million albums with 19 charted singles, eight Top 40 hits and two Number One singles. The group has 12 gold and 10 platinum records.
Grand Funk has recently reformed with a new lineup, minus frontman Mark Farner, and is touring the United States.
