Born David Jones and fronting his first band Davey Jones and the King Bees, Jones had to change his stage name after fellow Englishman Davey Jones gained international fame with The Monkees. Thus, David Bowie was created and his first solo album The World Of David Bowie was released in 1967 to little notice. This would soon change, first with the hit single Space Oddity in 1969, followed by the legendary album The Rise and Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars in 1972.
