The Benjamin Gate was formed in 1998 at Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The purpose of the band, and why it came together, is to honor their friend Ben Herbert, who was killed in a car accident. The name was also partly because there is a Benjamin Gate mentioned in several parts of the Bible. They are 2 year veterans of Festival Con Dios, a Christian music festival that tours across the United States every year.
