Description

The NHK Award is a collaboration between the Japanese Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) and the Sundance Institute to support emerging filmmakers with their next screenplays. Each year, one filmmaker each from the United States, Europe, Latin America and Japan is selected, who possess originality, talent and vision. The prize is US$10,000, with creative, financial and distribution support from the Sundance Institute, and a commitment from NHK to purchase the Japanese TV rights for the project upon completion. It has been presented each year since 1996, with the exception of 1997.
